đ¨What project are you working on that youâre most excited about?
My full-time project is Metacampus. At Metacampus we are a group of like-minded people who are all passionate about using innovation to change the world. I know that is a big claim but I joined Pere Perez (https://www.linkedin.com/in/pereperez/) because I had worked with him before and I knew that he cared passionately about making a difference and providing support to vulnerable children and those who are disadvantaged. When he and I worked together previously, his team had made some beautiful virtual reality films that could be used in training. Virtual Reality films are amazing - they give professionals insight that is hard to acquire through a book. Virtual reality places you in the space of another person and allows you to experience life as they are experiencing it - it provides an opportunity for the user to literally walk in the footsteps of another person. It touches the viewers emotions as well as their thinking - which helps bring about a behaviour change. The impact is significant.
But that was getting off point slightly. But this story is important because it is what connects my first career, as I call it, with my new second career in the Web3 ecosystem. Â
Iâve spent just over 30 years advocating for the rights of children, disaffected groups - women, women/people of colour, LGBTQ and non-binary people. At 17, I was advocating for children and women and wider disaffected groups to have a voice and I have not stopped doing that.
And if anyone is wondering why - I do this because I know first-hand what it is like to live in a working-class abusive family and to then grow up in the care system (living in foster homes and children's homes) and to need people advocating for you. Along my journey, Iâve met some amazing people and they have advocated for me - as parents do for their children - throughout.Â
So now I work with a great team at Metacampus to bring equity to the world of Web3. What does this really mean and look like on a daily basis? Well, it means I get to invest my hard earned cash in Women-led projects/businesses NFTs, fill my house with some amazing art, and use my leadership skills to bring attention to the issue of bringing a diverse range of women to Web3.  Â
đWhat makes you feel visible?
When people take a moment of their precise time to talk with me, invite me into their discussion, let me ask questions and give me time to share my thoughts.
đIf you could connect with one woman, who would that be and what would you say?
I really can not name one specific woman. To be honest, I wish I could connect with every young girl that is out there thinking they are not good enough - so we could have a conversation and I could tell them, well- shout from their rooftop and put a banner on the building opposite their bedroom window - you are good enough and you are apart of the next generation of leaders. Â
đąWhat piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
When you are not sure - take and breath, stand up tall and walk in the room.  Oh and yes, I would tell my very young self that education is important - so pick one up.  Â
