Let's meet Rebecca Orlov
⭐️What project are you working on that you’re most excited about?
Continuing the fantastic creative collaborations with great clients through my creative firm, Epic Playdate (epicplaydate.co). We are currently working with incredible hospitality, wellness and service-care clients on several brand projects and website/design projects. I am also adding more insanely talented consultants. I feel very lucky to get to work with such kind and creative people.
Paralleling my day-to-day work, I am deep diving into web3 experiences and education. I kickstarted my web3 journey in March 2021 and, a year later, I can clearly see a disparity of gender already forming inside the web2/3 transition. To combat & shift this narrative, my vision is for more women and mothers to engage and get in the web3 mix. I have been actively engaged in several DAOs and mission-driven web3 initiatives but also clearly see the need for onboarding an infinite and safe space for our GenAlpha generation.
With these pillars firmly in mind, I am sharing my knowledge and key steps with intentional parents who also want to create and put their own stake in the web3 ground. I believe it takes a web3 village - so I am creating one: MetaMamas (metamamas.xyz), the web3-focused platform educating, empowering and championing intentional moms who endeavor to create & build safe web3 experiences & spaces for our GenAlpha kiddos to pursue and do.
👀What makes you feel visible?
Being an intentional mom and seeing how my focus and actions for & towards my 8-yr old daughter are instilling pillars in her - values, kindness, graciousness, education, boldness, humility, silliness and everything in between. A true mirror to me as a person. It's quite humbling being a parent and having this profound responsibility. I feel honored that she "chose me", as I say to her :)
🤝If you could connect with one woman, who would that be and what would you say?
There is a long list of incredible women that I would happily connect with. In the spirit of web3, I'd love to connect with Lisa Mayer, founder of Boss Beauties. Why? Her purpose-driven mission aligns 100% with my own aspirations for myself and what I endeavor for my daughter "Empowering girls and women at the forefront of technology, leadership and creativity." To me that's dream big AND do big! Honestly, I would simply say a wholehearted "thank you for creating this space for me and for my daughter."
🌱What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
Such a great question! Can I share two pieces?
1. Don't take anything personally. ANYTHING! I am now 46 and finally, finally, finally, learned this one and it has absolutely changed my frequency and life relationships.
2. No one, I mean, no one knows what they are doing. You learn as you go...and what an incredible ride it is - it's called life! I shared this sentiment last summer right here:
